Little Shop of Horrors Mini Camp!

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope you all have been enjoying your summer!  For those of you that do not know me, my name is Neil Burch – theatre educator for GHS and GMS. As July comes to an end, I look forward to starting rehearsals for our upcoming production, Little Shop of Horrors.

Rehearsals will begin with our Little Shop Camp on Tuesday, August 8th from noon to five pm at the GHS auditorium. Originally we intended to have this camp run from August 7-10th. Due to many reasons, we made the executive decision to cut camp one day short.

The following is the schedule for our upcoming camp:

Tuesday, August 8th (Noon to 5 PM):

12 to 2:15 PM: Read-Through of Act I

2:15 to 2:30 PM: Break

2:30 to 3:15 PM: Music Rehearsal

3:15 to 3:30 PM: Break

3:30 to 5:30 PM: Dance – Full Cast and Crew

Wednesday, August 9th (Noon to 5 PM):

12 to 2:15 PM: Read-Through of Act II

2:15 to 2:30 PM: Break

2:30 to 3:15 PM: Music Rehearsal

3:15 to 3:30 PM: Break

3:30 to 5:30 PM: Dance – Full Cast and Crew

Thursday, August 10th (Noon to 5:30 PM):

12 to 2:15 PM: Ensemble Building

2:15 to 2:30 PM: Break

2:30 to 3:15 PM: Music Rehearsal

3:15 to 3:30 PM: Break

3:30 to 5:30 PM: Dance – Full Cast and Crew

5:30 to 6:30: Parent Meeting/Cast and Crew Cookout (Location TBD)

What should students bring to rehearsal? We recommend the following items: water bottle, snack (optional), script, pencils, and a notebook.

After the last rehearsal of Little Shop camp, we will host a parent meeting combined with a cast and crew cookout. We would love for you to attend this meeting because we will be discussing rehearsal expectations and other Drama opportunities for the upcoming school year.

I look forward to meeting many of you. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions. The following link is the full rehearsal schedule for the next three months: Rehearsal Schedule.

Spring Musical: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

This year’s spring musical is Frank Loesser and Abe Burrows’ How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

The following comes from the show’s licensing company website, Music Theatre International:

“Big business means big laughs in this delightfully clever lampoon of life on the corporate ladder. A tune-filled comic gem that took Broadway by storm, winning both the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying boasts an exhilarating score by Frank Loesser, including “I Believe in You,” “Brotherhood of Man” and “The Company Way.”

A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook called How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant “company man,” the office party, backstabbing coworkers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love.”

Age Recommendation:

Music Theatre International gives this show a PG rating. We agree with that rating and are recommending this satirical musical comedy to ages 12 and up! For more information regarding show content, click here.
